Tribute to Rodney

Tribute to Rodney Williams

Rodney was endlessly curious, quick-witted, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humour. He lived a life that enriched those around him, and even in the face of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), he showed remarkable courage.

Rodney passed away on 23 June 2026 after his battle with MND. During his final months, the support of MND Australia made an immeasurable difference to both Rodney and our family. Their specialised equipment, practical support and expert care helped ease his symptoms and being part of this network provided comfort.

MND is a devastating disease. Every day in Australia, two people are diagnosed with MND and two people lose their lives to it. There is still no cure, and the care required is highly specialised and often financially overwhelming for families.

If you would like to honour Rodney’s memory, we invite you to make a donation to MND Australia. Your generosity will help ensure that other individuals and families receive the same compassionate support when they need it most, while also contributing to research for a future free from MND.

Though Rodney is no longer with us, his generosity lives on. Every donation is a continuation of the kindness, compassion and generosity that defined his life, and a lasting legacy that will bring comfort and hope to others.

Thank you for helping us honour an extraordinary man in such a meaningful way.

MND never truly won, it never defined Rodney, nor did it diminish the remarkable person he remained until the very end. Even with is passing, he achieved his final wish by helping others through the donation of his organs. It was a last selfless act that reflected exactly who he was, generous, thoughtful and quietly courageous. Help us find a cure for this insidious disease.
